Australia is a country located in Oceania, has as capital Canberra. The country is an ex. British colony, which had his independence in 1901. Australia’s landmass ​​7692,000 km2, it’s the 6th largest country in the world and has “only” around 25 Million people, is estimated about 410,000 is the Aboriginal population that lived in this territory before the arrival of the Europeans.

Australia has no land borders with any country, but has maritime borders with 5 countries, and is surrounded by the Indian and Pacific ocean, as well by several seas.

The country is a constitutional monarchy, has Elizabeth II as Queen and the official language is English. The country is divided into 6 states, New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia, and by two territories, Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.  All these states and territories had plenary legislative power, their own laws and rules.

Most of the area of ​​Australia it’s a desert or semi-desert, still, has a wide range of vegetation and animal wildlife, it also has the largest barrier reef and the largest number of reptile species in the world.

The biggest cities are Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. This first two lists the best places to live and the most expensive cities in the world, and the Australian currency is the Australian dollar.
